Awakening (Lightning Field) 1.0 at Sylvia Wald & Po Kim Art Gallery, New York, NY, 2012

Awakening offers a unique contrast to our modern, highly interconnected lives by inviting us to experience a simple yet profound moment at Walter De Maria’s “Lightning Field” iconic land art installation.

By bringing the outdoors inside, Jaffé offers us the chance to be present for an everyday occurrence: to listen to insects, birds & animals waking up one October morning in the remote high desert of western New Mexico. This deliberate isolation and focus on the present moment stand in stark contrast to our typically mediated and interconnected daily experiences.
