utterances, articulations, manifestations is a suite of 16 compositions crafted from layered field recordings and constructed beats taken in New York and Maine. LocaleS3 uses the NOUS Sonic system to geo-locate the participant in space as they walk through 3D Virtual Sound Shapes.
Jaffé’s suite of 16 compositions, totaling 40:22 minutes in “utterances, articulations, manifestations” were created for “LocaleS3”, sound installation at Harvestworks, Governor's Island, New York City, 2023. 3D virtual sound shapes form the sonic field of discovery.
Leveraging the system from NousSonic, which incorporates Ultra Wide Band triangulation technology, visitors activate different components of the composition, as they interact with it simply by moving through space. Using smartphones, visitors become engaged participants, playing the room as an instrument.
